Clear contrast
Every text and background pairing was checked against WCAG ratios. Body text meets at least 4.5:1, and our bright lime is never used for text on light backgrounds.
Accessibility Statement
We want every founder, partner and visitor to be able to use hatch.mt, whatever device or assistive technology they rely on.
Last updated: 27 September 2026
This statement applies to hatch.mt, the website of HATCH, a startup incubator in Malta run by B2BMALTA Ltd.
HATCH wants hatch.mt to be usable by as many people as possible. That includes people who are blind or have low vision, are deaf or hard of hearing, have limited movement, or have cognitive or learning disabilities.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. Published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), WCAG is the international standard for accessible web content.
Accessibility has been part of the design from the start. hatch.mt includes:
Colour contrast rules. Every text and background pairing in the HATCH palette is checked against WCAG contrast ratios.
Visible focus. A clear focus outline shows where you are as you move through a page with a keyboard.
Keyboard support. Links, buttons, menus, tabs and form fields all work without a mouse.
A skip link at the top of every page that takes you straight to the main content.
Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, we switch off non-essential animation.
Pause controls for anything that moves on its own, such as the step guide and the scrolling list of collaborators.
Labelled forms. Every field has a visible label, and error messages explain in words what needs fixing.
Alt text for photos. Photos have text descriptions, and purely decorative artwork is hidden from screen readers.
Resizable text. You can enlarge text or zoom in without losing content, and pages reflow to fit small screens.
You'll find more on how these work in what we've built in, further down this page.
A website can fully conform, partially conform or not conform to WCAG. We're testing the finished site against WCAG 2.2 AA and will publish the results here.
Until that testing is complete, we describe hatch.mt as aiming for WCAG 2.2 AA rather than meeting it, and we list the issues we already know about below.
We'd rather be open about where the site may fall short. We know that:
Our videos. The conference film and the three workshop recap videos currently have only YouTube's automatic captions, or none yet, and no transcripts. If you need their content in another format, email info@hatch.mt.
Third-party content may not be fully accessible. For example, we can't fully control how accessible the YouTube video player is. You can also watch our videos on our YouTube channel.
Older documents and PDFs may not be fully accessible.
Event photos may have only short descriptions.
If any of these stops you getting what you need, email info@hatch.mt. We'll provide the information another way, such as a transcript, an accessible version of a document or a fuller description of a photo. If you find a problem that isn't listed here, please tell us too.
The site is designed to work with recent versions of major browsers, and with common assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers and voice control software.
If you need information from hatch.mt in a different format, such as plain text, large print, an accessible document or a transcript, email info@hatch.mt. Tell us what you need, and we'll work with you to provide it.
If you're coming to The Innovation Exchange or another HATCH event, tell us about any access needs when you register, or email us beforehand. We'll do our best to make the right arrangements.
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of hatch.mt. If something is hard to use, or you think we're not meeting the standard, email info@hatch.mt. It helps to include the page address, what you were trying to do, and the device, browser or assistive technology you use.
We aim to respond within 10 working days.
If you're not happy with how we respond to your feedback or request, please tell us so we can try to put it right. You can also contact the Commission for the Rights of Persons with Disability (CRPD) in Malta at crpd.org.mt.
This statement was prepared on 27 September 2026. We review it at least once a year, and we'll update it when we publish our test results or make significant changes to the site.
What We've Built In
Six ways hatch.mt is designed to work for more people, by default.
Every text and background pairing was checked against WCAG ratios. Body text meets at least 4.5:1, and our bright lime is never used for text on light backgrounds.
Every link, button, menu, tab and form field works with a keyboard and shows a visible focus ring. A skip link jumps straight to the main content.
If your device is set to reduce motion, non-essential animation switches off. Anything that moves on its own, like the step guide or the scrolling list of collaborators, has a pause control.
One main heading per page, headings in order and clear landmarks. Photos have text descriptions, and decorative artwork stays silent.
Every field has a visible label. Errors are written out in words, not shown by colour alone, and are linked to their field so screen readers read them out.
Text scales with your browser settings, and pages reflow into a single column on small screens or when you zoom in, without losing content or scrolling sideways.
