This policy explains how hatch.mt uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them. hatch.mt is the website of HATCH, which is run by B2BMALTA Ltd. For how we handle personal information more generally, see our privacy policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your device when you visit. They let the site remember things from one page or visit to the next, such as your cookie choice.
Similar technologies work in much the same way. For example, a website can save information in your browser's local storage. This policy covers these too, and calls them all “cookies”.
Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.
Persistent cookies stay on your device for a set time, or until you delete them.
First-party cookies are set by the site you're visiting, in this case hatch.mt.
Third-party cookies are set by another organisation, for example when a page shows a video hosted on YouTube.
How we use cookies
We keep cookies to a minimum. The law allows us to use cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to work without asking you. For everything else, we need your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time.
On your first visit, a banner asks what you'd like to allow:
Reject All keeps only strictly necessary cookies.
Accept All also allows analytics, advertising and embedded media.
Manage Settings lets you choose category by category.
Until you choose, we use only strictly necessary cookies. Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Google Ads, the Meta Pixel and YouTube don't load at all. We group cookies into four categories:
Strictly necessary. These keep the site secure and working, and remember your cookie choice. They're always on.
Analytics. These let us use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand how people find and use the site, for example which pages are useful. They're off unless you accept them.
Advertising. These let Google Ads and the Meta Pixel measure how many applications, enquiries and sign-ups our ads lead to, and let us show our ads again to people who have visited hatch.mt, through Google and on Facebook and Instagram. They're off unless you accept them.
Embedded media. These load YouTube videos on our pages, and YouTube may set its own cookies when they do. They're off unless you accept them.
The cookie list gives each cookie's name, purpose, duration and who sets it. We don't sell personal data.
Managing your choice
Using Cookie Settings
You can change your choice at any time. Select Cookie Settings at the bottom of any page, or use the button below. Turn analytics, advertising or embedded media on or off and save your choices, or reject or accept everything in one step.
You can also allow embedded media from any video on our pages by selecting Allow and Play. This turns embedded media on for all our videos, and you can turn it off again in Cookie Settings.
We store your choice in your browser's local storage, under the name hatch-consent. It lasts 6 months, and then we ask again. We'll also ask again sooner if we start using cookies for a new purpose. Your choice applies to the browser and device you're using, so you'll be asked separately on each one.
Each time you make or change a choice, we also keep a record of it on our server: a random ID (also saved with your choice in your browser), the time, the version of our cookie banner and what you chose. The record doesn't include your IP address. We keep it for 24 months, so we can show that we asked for your consent and respected your choice.
If you turn a category off, we stop using it from then on. If you turn off analytics, we also delete the Google Analytics cookies saved on hatch.mt. If you turn off advertising, we delete the Google Ads and Meta cookies saved on hatch.mt and remove any click IDs from hatch-attribution. If either was on, the page then reloads. If you turn off both, we also delete hatch-attribution. Cookies that Google, Meta or YouTube saved on their own domains stay there until they expire or you delete them in your browser.
Using your browser's controls
Most browsers let you see, block and delete cookies, and clear other site data such as local storage. You'll usually find these options in your browser's privacy or security settings, and its help pages explain how.
If you block all cookies, some parts of hatch.mt may not work properly. If you clear your browser's data, your cookie choice is cleared too, and you'll see the banner again on your next visit. Private or incognito windows usually delete cookies when you close them, so you may be asked for your choice each time.
Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by other organisations whose services appear on our pages. They're only set if you accept the category they belong to.
YouTube (Google). If you accept embedded media, our pages can show videos hosted on YouTube. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which limits what YouTube stores before you play a video. When you play one, YouTube may set cookies such as YSC and VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE, and it receives technical information such as your IP address.
Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager (Google). If you accept analytics or advertising, we load Google Tag Manager, the tool that loads the services you've accepted. If you accept analytics, it loads Google Analytics 4, which sets the first-party cookies in the cookie list. Google receives information about your visit, such as the pages you view, and technical information such as your IP address.
Google Ads (Google). If you accept advertising, Google Ads measures which of our ads lead to applications, enquiries and sign-ups, and lets us show our ads to people who have visited hatch.mt. It sets the first-party cookies in the cookie list. Google may also use its own cookies on its own domains, and it receives technical information such as your IP address. We don't use Google Analytics to choose who sees our ads. To stop it, turn off advertising in Cookie Settings.
Meta Pixel (Meta). If you accept advertising, the Meta Pixel tells Meta about your visit and when you send one of our forms (but not what you write in it). This lets us measure our ads on Facebook and Instagram and show them to people who have visited hatch.mt. The Pixel sets the first-party cookies in the cookie list. Meta may also read its own cookies, such as fr, and it receives technical information such as your IP address. Meta can combine this with information it collects from other websites and apps, and uses it to measure ads and choose which ads people see. To stop the Pixel collecting information on hatch.mt, turn off advertising in Cookie Settings. To control how Meta uses information from other websites for ads, use your Meta ad preferences. For collecting this information and sending it to Meta, we and Meta Platforms Ireland Limited are joint controllers. Our privacy policy explains what this means.
These organisations handle the information they collect under their own privacy policies. For Google, including YouTube, Google Analytics and Google Ads, see Google's privacy policy and Google's Business Data Responsibility site, which explains how Google uses information from sites that use its services. For Meta, see Meta's privacy policy. You can also manage the ads you see in Google's My Ad Center and in your Meta ad preferences. Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, and our privacy policy explains how we protect it when they do.
If you'd rather not allow embedded media, you can still watch our videos on our YouTube channel, where YouTube's own cookie settings apply. Our pages also link to other websites. Once you leave hatch.mt, that site's own cookie policy applies.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy when we add, remove or change cookies, and change the date at the top. If we add a new category of optional cookies, or use cookies for a new purpose, we'll ask for your choice again.
